From the time I was a child, I knew who I was. I was Leanne the fighter. That identity wasn't just something I did, it was something I built, brick by brick, over decades of training, competing, and showing up when it would have been easier not to. Then came the ACL tear. And just like that, the identity I had spent my whole life constructing was gone.

What do you do when the thing that defines you is taken away? You find out what you're actually made of.

I had five years of professional marketing experience and every industry expert told me the same thing "ignore the small businesses, chase the high-ticket corporate clients."

I ignored them. Not out of stubbornness, but out of conviction. Because I had walked down too many high streets and seen too many closed shops. Businesses with the best products and the most passionate owners, who simply couldn't compete with the corporate chains who outspent them at every turn.

That felt wrong to me. Still does.

​

So in June 2024 I launched Battle Brand Media, built entirely for the independents. The sole traders. The SMEs who are taking hits from every direction and still showing up. And the moment I did, something happened that no industry expert had predicted. People practically snapped my hand off, not because I was cheaper, but because for the first time, they felt like someone actually understood them.

That was the moment I knew I was on to something and the moment BBM was really born.
